Monthly Marketing: Tips For Varying Your PR Throughout The Year

Never let your marketing go stale. No matter how appealing clients find your PR strategy, when they realize you’re not going to change it, they’ll quickly lose interest. Staying fresh is especially important for uniform companies, as they sell a product that clients generally don’t care much about at first glance. Thus if you’re trying to sell uniforms, you need to find a way of making your product fascinating, and that begins by varying what you say about it throughout the year. The following simple tips will help you do just that:

1. Holiday Harbingers

For every holiday, find a creative way to market your uniforms that relates to the holiday’s theme. For example, say you sell uniforms that improve safety and professionalism in the workplace. As New Year’s approaches, you could write a blog post entitled “New Year’s Resolutions For Your Workplace,” and make improved safety and professionalism the centerpiece of those resolutions. You can then emphasize your gear for its ability to make those resolutions a reality.

2. Working with the Weather

Uniforms are often valued for their ability to protect workers from extreme weather, especially when working outside. Thus at the beginning of each season, you can publish ads and blog posts emphasizing your uniforms’ ability to deal with weather-related hazards specific to that season. If you sell uniforms that help employees stay cool in hot weather, for example, you can publish pieces at the beginning of each summer on the importance of avoiding heat stroke. Likewise, if your community has rainy springs and you provide shoes with extra traction, you could write about how your shoes prevent slip and fall injuries each spring.

3. Customer Considerations

Many of your clients will serve different kinds of customers during each season. You should emphasize your uniforms’ ability to deal with these changing sources of demand. For example, say you sell restaurant uniforms to a town that gets lots of tourists in the summer. During the summer, your clients may want uniforms that emphasize their cleanliness and professionalism to tourists; you can thus market your uniforms for their ability to do this. But during the winter, they’ll mostly be serving locals; this means you should focus on your uniforms’ ability to provide a warm, familiar atmosphere in the restaurant.

4. Advantages to Emphasize

Your company can likely offer different kinds of benefits during different seasons; you should start offering these benefits if you don’t already, and emphasize them in your marketing. For example, during seasons with high demand, you can offer bulk discounts; you should thus write articles about the benefits of buying in bulk. On the other hand, you may be able to offer discounted transportation during low-demand seasons, since you won’t be using your carrier services as much. In this case, focus your marketing on how to save on delivery costs.
